Well this is just in, the startup Company Nextbit will join the Razer Family.
First of all who is Nextbit? Nextbit is startup Smartphone Company that raised over 10 Mio Dollar on crowdfunding for their small priced Android Device, the Robin. Well so what are the next steps for a small startup? Well according to nextbit , being acquierd by a larger company was the inevitable next step. Okay so they were counting on that but why razer? Well according to the Employee Tom Moss it is because Razer are Rebels like them and are in it for the people and to create good hard- and software.
For those who don’t know Razer is one of the most popular and largest developer and distributor of Gaming Peripherels such as mice, keyboards, Headsets and just recently they got into the Laptop sector, showcasing an impressive 3-screen Laptop at CES this year.
Nextbit will continue to operate under their name within the Razer Divison to provide a better mobile experience, to quote Tom Moss
Nextbit will operate as an independent division inside Razer, focused on unique mobile design and experiences. To put it simply, we’ll be doing exactly what we’ve been doing all along, only bigger and better.
This just raises one more question, what will happen to the Robin? The answer is not what fans hoped. The sale of the Robin Smartphone will stop immediatly but the customer support will run for another 6 months and the software upgrade support will run for another year, until the end of February 2018.
