To promote the new Movie Kong: Skull Island the fictional piece of land has been added to Google Maps.

Soon we will have a new reboot of a franchise, this time King Kong. In order to promote the Movie Google Maps has teamed up with Legendary and Universal pictures to add Skull Island on the Map Server. The fictional island is located near the equator and a few thousand miles west of Peru and is labeled as an „archeological site“.

Google Maps lets the user add their own phantasy reviews and pictures of skull island as a promotion. So far over 6000 people engaged and shared their thoughts, resulting in a pretty cool summary and a few very charming images. The island itself would be pretty deadly to all of us since it is inhabitated by giant animals including our favourite ape King Kong. The movie is the second in a „monserverse“ quadrology, followed by Godzilla: King of monsters in 2019 and Godzilla vs. King Kong in 2020 .

In a new update Gmail now allows you to receive files up to 50 MB , doubling the incoming Data limit.

With the latest update on the G Suite blog we have been informed that you can now receive files up to 50MB . Previously it was only 25 MB without the use of Google Drive. It comes in quite handy if you use gmail for business purposes. The downside however is that the sending limit is still at 25 MB. So the increased cap will only work if the sender uses an email service that allows larger files than that. If you’re wondering in what scenario these numbers might be needed, imagine working in an engineering or planning office needing to send out multiple plans or pdf files. As someone who had to deal with this I really appreciate the efforts made by Google to upgrade that.

For a lot of people Pokemon Go is still a fun game to play and after the last big Update developer Niantic teased new Updates at MWC 2017.

A few Weeks ago the popular AR-game Pokemon Go got its first major update introducing a bunch of new items and 80 new Pokemon from the second generation, originally revealed with Pokemon Gold and Silver back in the day. At this years Mobile World Congress in Barcelona Developer Niantic took the stage and said that there will be three more major updates in 2017. Niantic CEO John Hanke did not reveal anything about the upcoming contents and took no questions from the audience. The only thing he did reveal were some interesting Numbers. The international Pokemon tariners caught 88 billion Pokemon since its initial release in July 2016 and was downloaded over 650 million times. All in all folks spent 44 petabytes of mobile data for the digital hunting trips. Those are quite some numbers and the rumors what the planned updates will bring us are starting to boil. I for one hope vor some PvP action or trading , preferably with players from around the world in a marketplace kinda deal , so you can get those Pokemon that are not available in your Regions.

In the next series of iPhones , Apple might get rid of the TouchID System on the new Devices.

In a latest leak by JPMorgan’s Rod Hall it says that Apple might ditch the home button and the TouchID system on their next Devices. The nex unlocking technology might be a 3D facial recognition, which allows to unlock the phone even with gloves and eleminates the issues with the fingerprint sensor when having wet fingers. This whole process is due to the planned edge to edge displays and the fact that apple is reportedly going iwth a 5,8″ screen on the next iPhone but they don’t want to get too big on the cases.

We will know more in June when the WWDC starts.

Apple’s annualy WWDC Event will take place at June 5th, in a new Location.

Every year Apple presents news and improvements at their annualy Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). This year the event will take place at a new Location. The Moscone Center in San Francisco, where the Event usually took place is currently under renovation, so Apple decided to move to the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose. We expect to hear a lot about the future of the different Apple operating systems and new Devices.

Tickets will be available at some time in spring, but if you can’t go, I’m pretty sure that there will be live streams of parts of the event.

Niantic announced that there will be a really big Pokemon Go Update this week, introducing new items and pokemon.

Acoording to a video posted by niantic there will be a new Update to pokemon go later this week, bringing us 80 new pokeon, new ways to e3ncounter them and some new Items to evolve your pokemon or berries to slow them down.The 80 new Pokemon that you encounter aere the next batch of the second generation after the baby pokemon have been added at the end of 2016. Will thios be enough to get you back into playing pokemon Go? I’m still doing it and i think this is a long overdue update. here is the Video posted by niantic.

For thos of you that still play Pokemon Go , get ready for a Valentines Day Event that will bring you more Candy.

So Niantic announced that there will be a Valentine’s Day Event for Pokemon Go. After Christmas and other Events Niantic has now got a new Idea to keep people playing,m or get them back. For Valentine’s day they got the following planned:

• “Pink” Pokémon (as in, Pokémon that are at least partly pink in appearance) like Clefable, Chansey, and Porygon will spawn more often.
• “Pink” baby Pokémon are more likely to hatch from eggs picked up during the event; Niantic mentioned Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum in particular.
• Players will get 2x the normal amount of candy for walking their buddy Pokémon and when catching, transferring, or hatching.
• Lure modules will last for SIX HOURS now, instead of thirty minutes. That’s 12x as long.

We will see what will happen with those Ideas, I still play it so I am actually pretty happy about those news, so now I can get Evolutions a lot quicker.

In the first edition of App of the Week , I will show you an App called Mix Radio. It was developed by Nokia and is now an essential part of Windows Phone, but a Beta is already live for Android and iOS.

Today is a first here on our humble little Blog. I present you my first choice as App of the Week: Mix Radio. The app was originally called Nokia Mix Radio and was developed by them as well, now it is still part of the Nokia and Lumia world but the developers and other personnel are a little more independent. I had the chance to speak to some of them at the IFA in Berlin in 2014.

Mix Radio is a music streaming service that allows you to put together your own mixes with artists that you like. You choose three artists and the App does the rest and also checks for similar artists to make your mix longer and more enjoyable. You could also just select one that already exists, they’re split up into genres and times and provide a good way to find new music to enjoy. The variety of genres and artists is almost endless, I have not yet searched for anything that I couldn’t find. If those are no reasons for you to say „well yeah he’s right, this could be real competition to others“, listen to this. Mix Radio is completely free and without any ads, that also includes the option to save up to 4 mixes on your device and use it in offline mode. Google Maps is quite the good service, but sometimes you need offline maps, and this is where Here Maps joins the stage.

Here Maps is a nice sleek navigation software that is developed by Nokia and was formerly known as Nokia Maps. The Software provides you with an excellent amount of Features such as Points of interest, pedestrian Navigation, Satellite images, home address and favourites, night mode and many more. It has an in-built social networking feature to easily check in to different services such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and many more. But the key Feature I like the most is the offline navigation which allows you to easily use your phone as a navigation system while travelling abroad or when the internet connection is not so great. But enough of the words, here is a short review of Here Maps on my G3, the App is also available for all the other Operating systems (except BBOS and Ubuntu, at the time this article has been written).
